The CD release coupled for the first time with a DVD of the live concert.

This is probably of THE most important recordings of the 9th ever, not only because of the historical context, but Bernstein's conducting. It is fabulous. You can watch it online, sure, but I wanted the recording for my own collection and you can't go wrong with Deutsch Grammophone. IMO it is the best performance of the 9th, ever.

Let's enjoy the music with freedom of glorious human history. It's not easy that Mr. Bernstein could conduct it in Berlin. (We have well known the history between Mr. Karajan & Mr. Bernstein.) This album is worthy of collections. Peaceful and joyable.
Addendum : I returned the item due to some distorted sound on the side 3. The replacement was very soon. Thank for Amazon excellent services.
But I did not know Newly established free return schedule (by DHL),it's inconvenient for me for this parcel. I attached all bar codes on the surfaces of my parcel. The staff of customer service never believed me that I had returned it via Post (Taiwan) by Air mail & Registration. They scanned DHL free bar code (I think) that's shown in App of Amazon systems. Please note for all customs of Amazon's, don't attach DHL bar codes on the surfaces of your returned parcel via Post.

Irgendwie gewöhne ich mich an diese nette, eloquente, charmant und leidenschaftlich für die Sache eintretende Begleiterin.

Gerade als sie mitbekam, dass ich mir nach längerer Zeit mal wieder “Ode an die Freiheit” gönnte, kam sie mir zu Hilfe. Sie machte mich darauf aufmerksam, dass das Konzert im Schauspielhaus Ostberlins, nun letztes Jahr das 30. Jubiläum hatte und es zu diesem Anlass von meinem so geliebten Gelblabel eine Ausgabe mit CD und DVD des Konzerts gibt. Das Videomaterial ist natürlich von Unitel.

Wir beide machten dann bei einem kleinen amerikanischen Buchversender dann eine Blu-ray-Version des Konzertes aus. Sie machte mir klar, dass sich das nicht lohne, denn das Quellmaterial von 1989 mit den damaligen filmtechnischen Beschränkungen macht ein Transfer auf die Blu-ray auch nicht besser. Zudem, und das war ihr schlagendes Argument, kann ich das Konzert dann nicht auf meinem Apfel PC anschauen.

Und dann war endlich der Moment gekommen. Meine treue Begleiterin und ich machten es uns auf dem schwarzen Ledersofa bequem. Noch bevor das Konzert startete und Lennie den Taktstock schwung, erklärte sie mir in ihrer ihr eigenen Art, dass dieses Konzert am 25.12.1989 unter der Leitung von Leonhard Bernstein mit Musikern und Sängern aller vier Siegermächte und aus den beiden deutschen Staaten, ein singuläres Menschheitsereignis sei. Es hat es zuvor und danach nie gegeben.

Meine Siri, dachte ich, ist schon klasse. Sie stand ohne etwas zu sagen auf, legte die DVD ein und schenkte vom Geldermann ein. Manchmal, so kam mir der Gedanke, ist mir Apples Machine Learning ein wenig angsteinflößend, doch als sich Lennies Stock erhob und die ersten Klänge der 9. den Raum zu füllen begannen, verflog der Gedanke so schnell, wie er gekommen war.
